This a very exciting technical development, very much needed today - However, it does put us one step closer to "SKYNET".... Not sure we have gained the wisdom needed NOT to misuse new technologies that lead us faster and faster to Global AI... AND, computers are strictly LOGICAL, and unless we build-in "Asimov" Three Laws of Robotics BEFORE we create Global AI, we are going to be in serious trouble... And I don't see any signs of that in any of the new AI News... May be I am just missing it? I hope that is the case!

Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics":
1) A robot may not injure a human being

2) A robot may not through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

3) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

I understand 5G is not "robotics" per se, but IT IS THE MEDIUM AI's WILL USE TO COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER DOWN THE LINE, IMO... Could we at least start to think in those terms BEFORE it happens? Because IMO, it WILL happen...

I agree, it is inevitable, world domination and control, the age old story, will dictate it. IIOT is just one of their candy-coated ways toward, what they believe, is total control. It will first be hidden in code, then when it is too obvious to hide, denials will follow, then the singularity and all will be lost. For now it is the humans that I am more scared of, at least while they are still in control. History tells us that this is man's nature, the dark side that won't be quelled. Keep warning the gullible my friend. We cannot rely on our overseers to defend us, they are too busy getting re-elected.

One final note; I just want to correct you on Asimov's 3 Laws of Robotics. According to Asimov they are:

  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

Too bad it only works for robots, were is so for human nature.

Human nature is best explained in The Law, by Frederic Bastiat, a short read.
