Apple - the largest corporation in the world by market cap and allegedly a company filled with computing geniuses - can't even get my desktop PC to operate on a consistent basis - and it is their latest operating system, autonomously operated from the cloud.

On top of that my desktop is not overrun with hazards like fog, rain, ice, snow, nighttime poor visibility, pedestrians acting on impulse, other traffic not under the control of an operating system, kids playing ball, cyclists, wild animals, drunk drivers, malevolent drivers, taxi drivers or sunny weather which makes broadsided tractor trailers too difficult to see in perfect daylight conditions.

When they can get my desktop computer to operate consistently that might be a day when I could start wondering about their ability to make cars, trucks, buses, taxis etc operate consistently in and around all such hazards in all weather conditions.

At the moment they clearly can't even do the first, so they're obviously a long, long way from doing the second.

Level 5 will not arrive before 2025 earliest, Level 3 in 2018?? Even Tesla are moving backwards with autonomous driving.

Yes OEM'S and Computer firms are pushing the idea but has anybody said how much this "Luxury" Option will cost?

Has anybody asked who wants or even needs such a System? Go ask the corn farmer in Kansas or the rice farmer in Vietnam if they need this "luxury".

Complete waste of billions of Dollars which could have been better spent in my opinion.

I'm sure the Kansas farmer would love to send his combine out to harvest while he is doing other important things!
