I have read a very similar quote that was attributed to Winston Churchill: "The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place."

E-mails are "non-communicated" for many reasons, here are just a few:

  • sender isn't valid source (authority)
  • contents aren't believed (validity)
  • contents aren't applicable (A vs. Z)
  • contents are irrelevant (just wants to be heard)
  • contents are dubious (more info first, please)
  • not intended for me (why am I on this 'forward to all')
