That's interesting. Trading air pollution for radioactivity pollution (the spent rods would pollute the atmosphere a lot quicker than the burning of the coal).

I'm glad someone else is thinking of replacing just the heat source, not the entire generating facility. That way much of the existing plant, including the transmission lines can be recycled. This has been known for years, but it's the first I have actually seen it being considered!
