"Obviously, it may take a while for most people with this mindset to acquire an EV." Very belittling is it not? Are we no longer allow to choose? To exercise our right of choice?

Not everyone wants an EV and not everyone has the facility to charge one. In fact, very, very few people have this luxury in the UK. EV's are totally useless in the UK right now and will be useless for a long time. So please get real, and stop assuming everyone will have an EV because it suits your marketing and your greed and intimidation. ICE have come a long way and are very efficient and cleaner these days. EV are still polluting and the electricity arriving from HV/EHV transmission lines from environmentally polluting wind farms and solar farms to charge your EV, also creates as much pollution. OH, you were not aware of that?
