Ending COVID restrictions is likely the reason for the sudden jump back up. Seems like the previous year, we had the single largest decrease in emissions. This should not be a surprise.

It also means that politicians don't have enough intestinal fortitude to do what they need to do. (Which would make some of us very unhappy, but . . . .)

Politicians are elected to represent the people, not the special interests. Unfortunately, a good number of politicians will cater to the special interests causing many people to be very unhappy.
