Another comparative scenario could be Brazil's use of ethanol in their vehicles. Bio-fuel production on a significant scale in Brazil started in 1975. Monthly consumption now of anhydrous ethanol for the mandatory E25 blend, together with hydrous ethanol used by flex vehicles, reached 1.432 billion liters, while pure gasoline consumption was 1.411 billion liters. So it is about 50%/50% compared to Gasoline after nearly 50yrs.
