V2H and V2G have potential

Solar and battery's are a good fit/synergy and with vehicle batteries

Getting the best economic performance out of a battery (2-3 charges/day) is going to advance the battery industry and the solar

Some points to consider in my place are

  • Home power ~$0.30+/kwh for 15hrs/day and ~$0.17/kwh for 9 hrs/night
  • Work power ~$0.17/kwh
  • Many commuter vehicles are at worksite during daylight (cheaper charging cost, better place to install solar, for vehicles, but not necessarily for the company installing solar)
  • Using a battery 2 or even 3 charges and discharges a day, increases its economic viability. So Charge 1 = fully charge up at Night 17c and discharge to house while 30c and leave enough battery power to commute to work. Charge 2 and 3 = charge up at work and help stabilize grid and/or use cheap peak solar to fully charge, at end of work, then drive home and discharge completely to house, till night power starts. Then repeat.

Getting batteries working for us to utilize the cheapest available power, better, I feel is going to make everything better

Using the very expensive battery in your electric car as grid storage is utter folly. Secondary batteries have limited charge-discharge cycles, and wasting your car's cycles on grid storage is ill advised. Much better to buy a dedicated home battery if that is what you want to do.
