It seems that bad things could happen to a satellite or spacecraft passing through this cloud of dust.

Danger Will Robinson !! Danger !! Dr. Smith's cockamamie idea could plunge the Earth into an Ice Age and we would have no way of cleaning up all that space dust to return to our normal global warming impending doom of climageddon.
