The technology to replace that power does already exist; you even mentioned it: nuclear. Trouble is, lots of people are scared of anything associated with nuclear. But they also know most about thermal nuclear, and not fast (Gen IV) nuclear which is about 100 times better.

We also have to be careful when talking about wind, solar, and others that we are talking about actual power and not label power.
