Inspection of car paint with electron microscopes is poor resource utilisation, it should be used primarily for failure root-cause analysis, test result inspection, fine metrology, etc. like bearing failure analysis, cylinder/piston wear, oil patch analysis. These things are expensive, use them for something meaningful. If just used for paint - fire the lab manager! (meant in jest)

I totally agree with psharpe01. Meaningful usage of the equipment is the key for the lab management.
