Nice summary, but I think the word "advanced" is used too loosely. Does it means Gen III reactors using advanced technology? Or does it mean Gen IV (fast) reactors using a quite different technology? I vote for using "advanced" only for fast reactors. They are much more efficient in uranium use, because they can fission both U-235 and U-238. U-235 is .71% of natural uranium. They have less waste because of using the U-238 portion (99.3%), and the waste is less radioactive for fewer years because the fast reactors also use the highly radioactive components to make energy.

I believe that if the Advanced Nuclear Stations can produce high temperatures, they can be used to produce Hydrogen from water or at least the first phase of the process. Once the right materials are found and produced, the Hydrogen could be competitive and very important to reduce the pollution worldwide.

The cost and time are huge in the public's mind. There are 2 major components of each.

The cost and time to actually build the reactor will be substantially reduced as we standardize; that is, build more than one of a kind (FOAK.)

The cost and time to counter the lawsuits, protests, & regulation/permitting are an even greater problem in my opinion. All take much longer than they should, and lawsuits can delay the project by years and, of course, increase the costs. This is where we have to spend our greatest effort. If a design is safe and permitted in Europe, why can it not be automatically approved here? Lawsuits may be best handled by better and more education to not just the adults but also those still in the educational system.
