...because today's business SAY one-thing, but ENFORCE something else, conformity, which is why all square-pegs eventually get hammered over & over until they eventually "fit" the simple/cost-effective "round" hole management only accepts.

Death by Committee? Peer pressure? Not wanting to look too 'geeky' in front of their peers? Having raised four teenagers I saw this a lot.

Andrew hit one "Not wanting to look too 'geeky' in front of their peers?" Another is not wanting to appear to be too bright, as they've seen others, if not suffered themselves, the effects of being too bright in the class room and the bullying that follows by the rest of the class, often enabled by a lazy teacher who'd rather teach to the lowest common denominator level. Bright young people are hard work...
