But really it's just natural inductive reasoning: Plants hence food and oils have been produced by photosynthesis ever since Earth settled into an orbit around the sun. We have the appropriate mixture of materials and atmosphere to conduct the process of photosynthesis as long as the sun still is lit up and the earth stays spinning as-is (not so for Venus, but that's another story; no or slight retro spin).

It follows logically that when (no "if") we figure out all the nuances of photosynthesis, we will have petroleum farms all over the world (like corn is now). Wood has been the predecessor of this methodology, and now TA-DAAAH man will take the helm. I give it ten years to fruition (2027) or less.
