Years ago I fielded a question at a university library reference desk: what does tuna feel like? The asker was part of a team attempting to build a fish-sorting robot hand. I concluded that they'd have to buy a piece of tuna and figure out the answer for themselves. Now we can use DNA to do the job and do it much more accurately.
