Currently, I am the Central Heating Plant Chief Engineer at Binghamton University, a State University of New York College. I am in charge of a staff of 16 plant personnel who operate and maintain coal / wood / natural gas / air-propane fired watertube High Temperature Hot Water Generator Stokers with a combined maximum capacity of 240 MMBTU/HR. I have held this position for five years. I started in this plant as a boiler operator in 1998 and coordinated Y2K preparedness of all campus HVAC and energy management systems through 12/31/99. My original position on the campus was as a maintenance electrician, year of hire 1994.
I was employed by IBM in Endicott, NY from 1978 to 1993. The first three years employed as an Automated Equipment Service Technician then six years as a Maintenance Engineer. My last five years were in management of a "New Products" manufactuing pilot line, until the company downsized in 1993.
From 1976 to 1978, I held the position of Chief Electrician at MCA Record Company in Gloversville, NY. It was there that I gained much experience in boiler maintenance & controls and was responsible for conversion of two firetube steam boiler BMS, burners, and fuel feed from #6 oil to natural gas service.
