Just a small town guy with basic middle of the road. I run triathlons and ride the Hotter N Hell 100 miler every year in Wichita Falls. I am a semi-retired financial services guy considering a new career path into the "green" revolution that will give us a better planet. I'm no tree hugger or PETAnatic, but I think we need to begin to make smarter decisions about day-to-day decisions. Politically, I'm nether Rep or Dem, but I believe we need to address our problems based upon a balanced budget and fair trade with the rest of the world. I'd like to see us replace imports from China with goods made in South America where there is cheap labor and closer proximity.
We pay 15c per KW for electricity and wind energy will only cost us 5c per KW. We should run our cars the first 50 miles every day on compressed natural gas, CNG, and switch over to gasoline beyond 50 miles. This single action would have prevented the current recesssion and it will cut our gasoline/oil usage by 70% and the Big5 gas companies and OPEC will no longer have a choke hold on our economy. GM and Ford produce cars in Europe, Philipines and Russia that run on both natural gas and gasoline. A CNG tank about the size of a scuba tank will hold enough natural gas to accomplish this by relocating the spare tire on an SUV to the roof or to a bumper mount.
