I'm a 52 year old English guy living in Central Portugal with my partner, two dogs and two cats. Before leaving the UK I was a director of specialist railway civil engineering companies for 15 years, often working 7 days and 4 nights per week. One day I thought, "I've had enough of this", I resigned, finished a house I was renovating, sold it, and we bought the 'Quinta' in central Portugal. Before moving here in 2009 I got a job working for two friends delivering beer around northern UK, no stress, no hassle, hard work but one of the best times of my life!!
The house in Portugal is an old 'Quinta' (farm) that we've been renovating over the last year or so. It's not completely finished but it's watertight and comfortable enough. In fact most stuff I do has a long break between being 'started' and being 'completely finished' a philosophy that I hope is reflected in my life!
