Hi folks,
I became interested in ham radio as short wave listener about the age of 15, in my then home state of PA. About 5 years later, I was first licensed as a Novice in 1962 while a Private undergoing Morse Code training for the U.S. Army Security Agency at Ft. Devens, Mass. Shipped overseas with no 'elmer' to guide me, I wasn't able to pass the General (Conditional) class theory and there I was in West Germany for the next two years with great CW skills that I could only use for the U.S. Army.
Later on in life I did the CB thing for a few years and got into SSB and finally decided that ham radio was really where I wanted to be. I was licensed again as a Novice in the mid-seventies as WA2KKG. Enjoyed a great sunspot cycle on 10 meter SSB as a Novice and later upgraded to General.
I enjoy both HF and VHF, and am active in emergency communications with RACES and ARES. Other interests include Miatas, Yorkies, and computers.
You can learn more about me and what I'm up to these days in my blog called Ham Radio Scene. Stop by and leave a comment.
