Born in October 1961, I joined the Army at 17 and eventually wound up in Germany as an EW SIGINT analyst freezing my butt off with a radio intercept team observing the Soviets on the other side of the East/West German border. The job was actually pretty cool (no pun intended) and I got a great hands-on grounding (pun intended) in electronics, analysis, writing, and presentation, all skills that formed the core of my career
