Biography

Paul Wyatt, Born in London, Educated at Peter Symonds School, Winchester, and London, (Electrical Engineering and Special Physics). He entered the manufacturing industry as a product development engineer, and moved on to technical sales in the field of process control and instrumentation with a large manufacturer, based in London. Moving to San Francisco California, in 1963, he started a new career as a systems analyst, designing business systems, and becoming an independent consultant in 1970. Beginning yet another career in 1973, designing bathrooms and kitchens, he began the development of a series of new product designs. With his first commission for the design of a 7000-bottle wine cellar in 1982, he became consumed for more than twenty-five years in the design and production of thousands of sophisticated custom wine cellars for clients all over the world. His designs have been widely acclaimed and many of his cellar images have been published. Described as the inventor of the modern wine cellar, the king of wine cellar design, and the father of the custom wine cellar industry, he currently lives in the Napa Valley, California. The fully engineered "Egyptian Series" rack system made entirely without nails or glue using a new and fully certified hardwood, will ship early next year. The new system, the benchmark of quality and precision, is to be offered to qualified designers by part number. Paul will continue to design a limited number of custom cellars for special clients worldwide. His first book, "Wine Cellar Design" includes a large selection of designs and images from his archives and will be published next year. The Discovery Channel will air a segment about the technology of wine cellars on it's Modern Marvels Series on November 29th 2006. Friday, October 13, 2006
