Biography

I am an Electrical and Electronic Engineer and took my degree at University of London King's College in 1971 Worked for Laboratories RCA IN Zurich, as a development engineer, on deflection circuit design, for colour television receivers. Then worked for CTVC, Bushey, Hertfordshire, UK for 8 years, in all aspects of broadcast videotape engineering, maintaining the machines, and recording and editing programmes. From 1984 I went Freelance as a broadcast vision engineer, working in all aspects of outside broadcast and studio based vision engineering, as well as doing periods of engineering "fire fighting" in studio and editing facilities, plus maintaining reel to reel and cassette based broadcast videotape machines up to the era of the Sony Digibeta. In 2006 I re qualified to work as a Part P registered electrician which I have been doing until I decided at 67 I have had enough of domestic electrical work and now choose the work I do in the industrial/commercial sector. In the last two years I have been regularly visiting Uganda to support a Wales -Africa linking project that provides tools and equipment to the carpentry and joinery department of Kumi Technical School, in the Teso region of Eastern Uganda. The objective of our group, Dolen Llanbrynmair, is to work towards a point where the department is self sustaining. To this end we have funded the planting of trees which will be their timber supply in years to come. Working in Uganda is inspiring and a sharp reminder of how wasteful and spoilt we are in our western culture. We have a great deal to learn from our African cousins.
