Dear All,

For new lightning protection is it necessary to connect to exiting lightning protection?

Any advise.

Regards

If both lighting protection systems are located in the same building-or at least 3.6 m apart-then you must. See, for instance, NFPA 780 ch.4.14 Common Grounding.

If they are not, in my opinion, still it will be better to do so

Read the local codes.

Follow them.

1. what does the client or your employer want? discuss the situation with them. make them happy.

2. I know NFPA requires lightning for "all structures." BUT...... if its a single story building in a low - lightning area, not storing explosives or combustible materials, common sense ALSO applies.

What's the lightning protection exactly? What standard are you working to? What's the building and site? What's the existing protection consist of?

Please provide more information.
