Freeze-dryer Vacuum Pump Alternative Oil

05/14/2015 6:12 AM

Dear folkI have got my vacuum pump for a freeze-dryer that uses oil No 16 and I know it is preferable to use manufacturer designed oil.Just a wonder if there is an alternative replacement when a supplier wouldn't have stock ? Is there a cross reference chart that can find out if this type of oil might be sold under several other brand names ???

Regards

This oil that the OEM is providing will have MSDS or SDS now. This should list the type of oil used. With that knowledge you can source a replacement for it. Just remember that it is most likely a food grade oil. Baby oil may be mineral oil but it's not food grade. It has other additives to it. And the mineral oil used may have not been processed to food grade.

It was nice that you posted the links on your post but they have nothing to do with solving your issue.

Do a google search for oil alternatives for your vacuum pump model (which you did not give us the info on)?

Do a little research first and then if you don't find anything, let us know and maybe we can help?

>>Do a google search for oil alternatives for your vacuum pump model (which you did not give us the info on)?<<

Javac Vector LD9 Stage 2 and Google search already performed no result therefore i posted my question here

>>Do a little research first and then if you don't find anything, let us know and maybe we can help?<<

Well I did a bit of research and it looks like the manufacturer is recommending that only their oil is to be used.

  • If you can, purchase a 5 liter container from the manufacturer.
  • This vacuum pump is very expensive so I would recommend using the manufacturers oil!
  • If you really want an oil from a different manufacturer, contact THIS company and they can give you a perfect match for your pump.
  • Or try the Product and Suppliers section of this website?
  • This took me about 60 seconds to find, do your research!

Thanks for those two websites ,without your help I would haven't find them.

Too long because it took me zero time to find that , since I bought the pump and read the manual I realized that and it makes sense because I wouldn't expect from the manufacturer to advise me to use alternative oil.

After reviewing your replies, you come across as argumentative.

Do you really expect people to waste their time?

Good luck with that.

It appears you do not really want advice, you want companionship.

My suggestion is get yourself a dog.

Sometime argument is positive and sometimes it not.

In my case it was a positive as i rated the helper with positive.

Since you poked your nose because you have a bad intention.

Now to answer hire a dog i was looking to do that i guess you would be the right one
