Ice acretion rate

07/18/2007 10:58 AM

Hi All,

Does anyone know a relationship for, or articles dealing with, ice acretion rate as a function of humidity, temperature, wind speed, etc.

I am interested in the rate at which ice acretes from water in the atmosphere on a round or flat surface that is exposed to temperatures below freezing.

Thanks

A Google search on ice accretion will turn up lots of information.

I have read some articles in some of the pilot magazines I subscribe to. I would guess that NASA and the FAA would have some web pages devoted to research that they have done on the subject. There continues to be research on the effect of sub-cooled water droplets and the rapid ice accumulation in the wake of an ATR crash several years ago.
