Catalytic Converter for automobiles

07/19/2007 11:46 PM

I am interested in manufacturing Ceramic Catalytic Converters from an engine capacity of 1.0 Liters to 8.0 Liters, both Gasoline and Diesel powered vehicles.

Can anybody provide me some information on the technology and some DIY instructions to make some samples?

I have questions like 1)Is Ceramic catalyst type, the best? 2)What about metal catalyst types? 3)Which type gives the best price performance for a price sensitive market?

Any help is appreciated.

Seshkanuri,

the informations you are requesting are the result of a lot of manyears of industrial research and development with costs of several million dollars in sum. Do you really think its a practible idea to ask in such a forum ? I can`t imagine - who should make you such a gift for free and why ???

Regards Uwe

It is for the same reason why Linux is given for free after years of research. Whereas Linux technology helps the Information sharing, I am looking for something that saves the environment and something that can be built easily, without using expensive resources.

It is the same reason why millions of dollars worth of AIDS drugs are given away in Africa for free, after years of research, where there is a need but people cannot afford it.

This technology is needed in places where the automobile pollution is going up tremendously and where there are insufficient laws to save the environment.

This is for common good where money should play the least part.

Now I understand and think it`s a good idea - best wishes for success of your project.
I was only sceptic because our society often has a double moral standard.

Giving free the AIDS drugs was possible because our saturated society is weary of looking at all these ugly pictures because "normal" life is disturbed.

LINUX was successful because its roots were students and enthusiasts working for free with fun and no investment apart from a computer they had anyway.

Free procects can be enabled or accelerated when:
1. Something is painful (which has to be avoided),
2. Something is full of relish (which has to be achieved).

In my opinion unfortunately a lot of money was wasted by investing in catalytic research and development because the consumption of resources was not lowered by this way. We should have better invested in modern drive technologies - lowering consumption lowers pollution for free and needs only optimization.

There are some interesting projects you possibly know:

1. LOREMO.COM shows a new car for 4 persons with little load or 2 persons with lot load taking 1.5 l diesel fuel per 100 km. This will be produced in 2008 or 2009.
2. THEOSCARPROJECT.ORG shows OSCar, an open source car project being pushed since some years, perhaps a better platform to bring your idea forward.

Good Luck
Uwe
