Selection of Type of Hydrogenerator

09/08/2015 3:01 AM

Dear sirs,

I have read about umbrella type and suspension type of hydrogenerators - where thrust bearings are located at the bottom of the rotor, and at the top of the rotors respectively.

Generally, we are given head, discharge and water levels and have to determine the type of turbine to be used, and the type of hydrogenerator.

Now, the question comes - how the selection of suspension type hydrogenerator, or umbrella type hydrogenerators are made?

Regards,

The selection is generally made by competent engineers, having all the facts at hand.

What do you have?

At first, I thought the guy is directed towards this.

But later, I found a bit different direction.

Search Turbomachineries. Google has actually many books for viewing for free.

I believe that you are maintaining (at least) two separate accounts here, and am about to report my suspicions to admin.

Seem likes you are referring to Pelton Wheel and Francis Turbine, between impulse and mixed flow turbines.

High Head, Low Flow use Pelton Wheel.

Low head, High flow use Francis turbine.
