In power stations the generator is connected to grid through power transformers. the power transformers have connections like YNd1 or YNd11 or Dyn1. what is the criteria for selecting a particular connection symbol?

why we need to specify the transformer vector group in substation design. If the vector grp of a generating transformer is changed from yd11 to yd1 how it will be going to affect in synchronising the generator
