Is USA Manufacturing Ready for Industry 4.0, IIoT and Such?

02/06/2016 9:59 AM

There is a huge barrier to successful implementation and long term sustainability of an Industry 4.0 systems that no one is talking about. A huge barrier to supporting technologies with minimized downtime and cost, like IIoT, Cloud, even Process Automation Controllers , it is the Maintenance of assets utilizing such technology. The article "Industry 4.0 in USA: Risk" is a start to bringing attention to these little talked about barriers that could wind up pulling apart some manufacturing plants.

Do you have any insight of other potential Industry 4.0 implementation barriers not already mentioned to add to this article?

This belongs in commercial space, and you have been a member long enough to know that fact.

Shameless self promotion.

I'd rather see this thread than OPENMINDZ R&D PROJECTS or,

Evidences its world as briskly as of strikes but, you're probably right.

That is why I didn't report this one, but did the others.

I honestly believe it is an interesting article/topic to discuss here. At a minimum, it is a very important topic to get all those end-users in manufacturing thinking about. Plus it is unique, so it adds value to the Manufacturing discussion area. (Even more so if people here actually discuss the topic introduced. )

This seems like an ideal Blog topic, actually.

That is what i thought too Lyn. But I could not find a way to post as blog (create new entry, or create new blog), only could find the "Start a Discussion".

I have no problem with it as a blog, links and all. As lyn said, it is an interesting topic.

I am not sure, but I think you have to contact admin for the blog. If you do get it set up as a blog, I will try to participate (doing home repairs, so limited time).

Good luck.
