Hello, it is not advisable to apply paint/primer on the welded joints prior to hydro test, because , on application of paint or primer on the welded joint, may not reveal the minute leaks, and also, if any leak is detected, the paint is to be removed throughly for repairs of the joint,which will cost you time , labour, and money.And also the joint repaired, may be not of good quality.

<Burp>

Common sense, innit?

Why paint the things if they are to re-welded following a failed hydro-test <Belch>?
