Aljazeera America will close down the evening of Tuesday 04/12. I agree with their tag-line that their reporting is fact based and in-depth. I will miss them. It seems that all other news media in America is one or more of biased, tabloid or exaggerated to get ratings. These entertainment shows with news as their central theme might be more fun to watch but they are rather poor at informing people.
I normally started my day with the Del Walters, Stephanie Sy and Nicole Mitchell news broadcast on. There was a lot of good news, an occasional brief moment of humor or personality and they were easy to understand.
I suspect (don't know for sure) that BBC America might be a good news broadcast but I can't understand them when they are on "in the background". I have always had trouble with the Prince Harry accent and I often don't have a clue when someone is speaking with a Prince William accent.
I join others in suggesting that Aljazeera America hurt themselves by not using a more America friendly name. Up until 6 months ago I had resisted all suggestions to watch them. In the past there were several times that other networks aired reports of exclusive interviews that terrorists had with Aljazeera. In the past I didn't want to have anything to do with the network that I thought was a friend of the terrorists. About 6 months ago I discovered that my assumption was wrong. Aljazeera America actually provides that high quality journalism that CNN and the other major networks provided up until about 10 - 20 years ago.
Goodbye Del Walters, Stephanie Sy, Nicole Mitchell, Ali Velshi and the others. I will miss you and your high quality news.
