The real ABB does, so pick up the phone and contact them directly.

Have you got Drive Windows?

Everything is exposed there.

Look for a parameter that gives the extended parameter list.

Try it with the drive stopped.

Unfortunately I am more familiar with the ACS800 / DCS800 series.

The firmware manual can be downloaded from www.abb.com

http://www.abb.com/search.aspx?q=acs600%20firmware

I think you may want to use P90.xx p91.xx, 92.xx, and 93.xx to re-map your data sets.

In general communication modules do not write to P 10, and you can't touch the data set 10 - but you can map your data set words with the P90's.

Good luck.

It doesn't need a passcode unless someone set it up to require that before altering the program. That "someone" would not have been ABB, it would have been whomever originally commissioned the VFD. People often use that feature to SPECIFICALLY PREVENT later users from making changes. You can look to see if that's the case in Group 16, parameter 2. If it says "Open", you are good to go. If it says "Locked" then someone locked you out on purpose. ABB will not easily surrender their "back door" unlock code because it opens them up to liability if they give it to you and you do something that causes harm.

If it does say "Open" and you still cannot program the drive, I'd think it is most likely because the VFD is in a Running state. parameter Group 10 can only be changed when the drive is "Off", meaning no Run command. So what sometimes happens is that when you are using communications as the control method, the PLC or controller never really removes the Run command, it simply tells the VFD to go to Zero Speed, which is technically different. So you would need to investigate the command line in your controller that is calling for the VFD and force it to an Off state before you can change the Control Location parameters in Group 10.

Dear JRaef

P16.02 is OPEN

I'm not trying to change/access parameters in Drive running state, the drive is in OFF state i.e. it displays "0" on top left end of CDP when running it displays"1"

Are there other missing parameter groups?

Do you have access to the ABB program "DriveWindows"?

Can you access the firmware revision groups?

It is starting to sound like you have a custom FW installed.

Just to be sure, power down, disconnect all power, remove connections to all communication modules, make sure you are not in local mode.

Then try accessing your parameters again.

If you are in Local control I believe it is expecting start / stop commands from the keypad and may lock you out.

Presently there are three FO connections, first is between Drive's NAMC Card & PLC, second is between Drive's NAMC card & Drive & third is between Drive's NAMC card & Drive's NIOC card. When i remove the FO cables between Drive's NAMC Card & Drive, the Drive is not getting completely initialised, when i remove the FO cable between Drive's NAMC card & PLC, drive's CDP-12 shows CH-0 Comm Fault but the Par Gp-10 is still not visible, also by keeping the drive in Remote mode the condition is same

I would be poking at it with DriveWindow 2.4 - but you don't have that toy.Do you back up to a PC or just the keypad? If you can get a parameter backup to your laptop would give us all something to look at.The parameter backup is human readable.

As I understand it, you don't have access to P16.02 and P16.03?

If you do----

if P16.02 = 1 then you are locked out.

If P16.02 = 1 then set 16.03 to 358 - it should unlock the parameters. (Same in both ACS600 and ACS800). I would try this anyways.

P4.01 if available gives us some clues as to what Firmware you have installed.

In the ACS800 if you set P16.03 to various values you open up second menu levels - but you should not need to dabble there. I would assume the same for the ACS600 but I can not verify the codes.
