I have a number of O2 analyzers at my plant, they all have their advantages and disadvantages. For ppm O2 there are three main types of cells used, throw away fuel cell, electrochemical and high temperature zirconium.
The throw away fuel cell is the cheapest and reacts fairly quickly, cell sensitivity decreases as the cell depletes.
The electrochemical type can be very accurate and has a moderate speed of response, although they are sometimes slow to come down after a large upscale move. This is because the cell usually has a fairly large volume that needs to be replaced or flushed out to return the reading to a low ppm .
The third type is the high temperature zirconium which has a very fast response both up and down but it can be somewhat flow sensitive and can react with other contaminants in the sample gas.
Some manufacturers are Servomex,Teledyne,ABB,Delta F and Panametrics.
A good place to look is a website called Global Spec Engineering.
They all claim to have the latest and greatest but try and contact some one who has a similar analyzer and get real opinions not just sales rep. promises.
