Brix meassure

08/09/2007 10:29 AM

Do someone help me and tell me how is the best way to meassure concentration inside a vacum pan for sugar manufacturing.

I'm not talking about feeding or output. I want to meassure waht is happening inside the pan.

I'm not talking about batch meassuring, I'm talking about continous meassuring.

For this you´d need an in-line refractometer with auto flushing.

OK I know that thanks

But what was your experience with such instrument in that application?

Can you tell me wich brand was used?

How it was installed? In the pan wall or taking a sample in a pipe?

I have seen them installed in pipes but can be installed right on the vessel as well. The application was for coffee liquor in the range of 15 to 60 brix. Don´t recall the brand but it was german make and it worked fine. Tthere must many other makes. Try googling in-line process refractometer.

Thanks "coffebean" for your help.

Y will try to find something as you tell me.

The problem is that we are trying to read 80 brix and seams not to be easy.

I had seen a process refractometer form Rosemount

Also I have experience meassuring black liquor (pulp mill) concentration.

And as can I tell you, my experience is not very good with them...

Fouling by the process media is the main issue. That´s why the auto flush feature.
