A Better Social Site

01/14/2017 11:46 AM

Hi all, I recently received a v amusing birthday card in which it was suggested that I should launch a new (anti)social networking site called "Bitter" for grumpy old men.

Any CR4 members care to join it? Anyone know how to do this? There would of course have to be a lot of stupid rules to grumble about, and no-one would be allowed to be complimentary about anything or anyone, but downright abuse would have to be banned.

Discuss ......

Phil

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard!

There've been some really poor ideas floated here but this one takes the cake!

Nobody would waste their time talking to a bunch of grumpy old men.

There, do I qualify for your new forum?

Launching your own anti-social media site is a lot of work and then, once you do, there are the issues of keeping the site up and working, fixing bugs in the code, finding moderators and admins to ban spammers and trolls, hosting costs and finding advertisers* to pay for it all, so forth. It's a full-time job.

My suggestion would be to simply lease CR4 from IEEE. Everything's in-place and you've already got more grumpy members than Davy Crockett. Lyn, for instance ⇑.

What could be easier?

* to attract even more grumpy members, name it TrumpNet.

I'm not much of a joiner...I'm too busy anyway....I'm not bitter...I don't like change, unless of course I have initiated it myself....The last thing I want to do is listen to a bunch of complainers....

Dottie Schipper said her husband was reluctant at first to become a high school graduate.

"He said, 'What the hell do I need with a diploma? I'm 90 years old. Do you want me to get a resume and go to work now?'" she told the paper. "He didn't act like he was really excited, but he was really excited."

The Navy discharged Schipper after the war and he became an electrician.

He worked until he was nearly 60.

I have a feeling it would become too dominated with political rants.
