Clarification on Trip/Non-Trip Bands as per IEC - Product Specific

03/07/2017 4:45 AM

Why products falling under IEC60947-2 (ACB/MCCB) have Trip/Non-Trip as 1.05/1.30 times of In while products falling under IEC60898 have the same as 1.13/1.45 (MCBs) time of In? In practical usage, is it not that as MCBs being handled by unskilled personnel, it must have lower trip/non-trip compared to ACBs/MCCBs? Thanks in Advance.

In my opinion, IEC 60898-1 states 1.13/1.45 of In but IEC 60947-2 is 1.05/1.30 of Ir

Ir=Adjustable overload setting current

If Ir=1.05-1.25In then non-trip/trip could be 1.31/1.81.
