08/25/2007 9:55 AM

My collage gave me a project on SPEED CONTROL OF SQUIRREL CAGE INDUCTION MOTOR WITH C PROGRAMMING. So if anybody suggest me something or give me a paper on it,I will be so much helpful to him/her.

There are zillions of ways to do this, but here's one that might be fun:

Using C, you can program your sound card to create sounds of different pitches. With a suitable amplifier these different "pitches" could be different drive frequencies.

Be aware that induction motors are almost all designed for high voltages, so, if you are designing and building the last stages of this drive, you should have some experienced guidance, to avoid killing yourself.

Or... for something even more "off the wall": There are small sprag clutches that work like a ratchet, but do so in infinitesimal increments. The excursion of a woofer (even as small one in average computer speakers) is apt to be 1/8 inch peak to peak. Take a push rod bonded to the center of a woofer (being sure to suitably spread out the load) and drive a little sprag clutch (from its edge) and you'd have a motor. This might be far outside what your teacher expects -- in which case you'll either get an A+ or an F.

Original posting translated:

"Hi, I am a lazy and unimaginative student who wants someone else to do my thinking for me. With the help of strangers like you, I will graduate in spite of my ineptitude and enter the workforce without the critical thinking skills that will allow me to develop into a good engineer. But along my career path, I will use my newly attained skills at evading responsibility for my own development in order to step on and take advantage of others. This will make me a good manager in the eyes of other heartless executives, I will succeed in taking over the company I work for and eventually become the boss of those who I stepped on earlier. I will reward their efforts by exporting or eliminating their jobs in order to increase the value of my company stock."

Maybe a little dark, but very funny! And like all good humor, there is so much that rings true.
