fire resistant fluids

08/26/2007 1:03 PM

we use phosphate easter oils in the hyd. power packs of elecrtric arc furnaces and product cating machinery where the liquid metal temp will be around 1600 Deg C. Phosphate eater is very expensive and environmentally hahardousand hence we are looking for alternating fluid which has the same/similar fire resistant qualities as phoshphate eaters. Anybody can please suggest.

Give me a shout - I know of a company that has developed a fire resistant, biodegradable hydraulic oil that is based on a modified canola oil. It is 100% oil and not a water glycol mix or a synthetic oil. The modified canola oil product has demonstrated great stability to oxidation and provides lubricity to the pumps and valves. If you want, e-mail me at mhollowa@nch . com and I will get you more info.
