Sonic to Burn DVD

08/29/2007 10:39 AM

I wanted to burn few slide show pictures with back ground music. I used Sonic program and in the computer hardware it works fine, but when I tried to burn on DVD when it tries to write on DVD it ejects the DVD and get a message unknown error. I tried -R and +R, both have the same problem. The file is not big to fill the DVD disk either.

When I tried Power Point slide show it works fine. Or using Sonic shen I use copy from one DVD to another it works too. Is there any idea why my picture file through sonic have this problem? Is there any other software worth to try?

Thank you

Dump Sonic. It is known to cause issues. Nero makes a better product.

Nero is good!

You can also try NTI CD & DVD Maker.

Try: Deep-Burne. Free

You may not have a DVD writer or the program cannot sense it.

Get it sense manually if it has a drop-down list for CDs/DVD

I have Sonic dating from about 3 years ago. I use it all the time. However when I make slide shows or video, I make it in Arcsoft's Showbiz (or Pinnacle). I save the file as an AVI or MP3. I can then import the files into a DVD project in Sonic. Sonic allows you to have up to 6 chapters (MP3 or AVI files) per screen where you can select and play the desired chapter and either have it return to the "home" screen or progress sequentially through the rest of the chapters. Both Arcsoft and Pinnacle allow you to make DVD's and Pinnacle has a decent "chapter" option, but I like the Sonic method better.

Windows Movie Maker works okay too. It came with Windows XP for Home. It is somewhat limited, but has some interesting special effects. My wife has a habit of taking video inadvertantly with her digital camera. A lot of which was interesting, however most of the time she would turn the camera sideways. Windows Movie Maker lets you right sideways video. The version I have makes WMF files if you save it to the hard drive as opposed to burning a CD or DVD. So you have to view it with Windows Media Player.

First put your project on your hard drive as an .iso file, then use Disc Copier to burn to DVD.
