Gear

09/05/2007 10:40 AM

Can anybody help me choose the proper gear allowance series and tolerance series. Which Indian standard number or DIN standard is appropriate? What is the best choice?

Thanks.

module 4, no.of teeth 20, tooth thickness 2*pi, rack and pinion drive, speed 10mm/sec. i have designed everything of the drive. For backlash and tooth width tolerances, i need to know which class of allowance should i go for? i want guidelines of class of tolerances and allowances like f24, cd25 etc., the basis.

I am unsure whether a tolerances similar to shaft and hole assembly is provided for gear machining. What I feel happens is that the machinist is infomed of the module, the tooth width (chordal) and the clearance.

Refer AGMA Hand book on manufacturing gear and tolerances for inspector and machinist section.

there is allowances and tolerances set similar to shafts and holes. based on which we fix the theoretical backlash, upper tooth thickness allowance and tooth thickness tolerance values. i don't have a copy of DIN 3967. if u have it please get me the pdf of it.
