And here I was thinking you were posting spam about the healing properties . . .

Thanks for putting these two videos up. Always worthwhile reviewing the basics of a subject. Have been wanting to grow a CuSO4 Crystal for some time but never seem to get the project started. No excuse now. My physics teacher (Prof. A. N. May) decided that the class wasn't quite up to the standard needed to perform the Oil drop experiment and postponed it for the next year. Unfortunately I had left by that time so never did do it. Memories, wonderful memories. Yes, thanks.

Very interesting. I wasn't aware that you could actually see crystals grow under a microscope.

Neither did I, but in truth never really thought about it, just assumed crystals were like stalactites formed over thousands of years....the only crystal growing I ever did was sugar and maybe salt, and that was just overnight growth, still interesting....alum is cheap too....

And at a rate of 1000 layers per second a a few hundred millionths of a millimeter at a time!. Something like that..

But who's counting.

My lady busted me late at night engrossed in the second video. Accused me of nerdiness

Thanks! Those bring back a lot of good memories. I started teaching physics in '63, and used a number of those videos and experiments in my classes for quite a few years. We did the Millikan experiment many times.
