Environmental Remediation Calculations

09/22/2007 7:07 PM

Howdy Fellow CR4 Intellectuals:

Question #1: Does anyone know of a freeware program or spreadsheet that I can obtain to perform calculations for air sparge, blower sizing, compressor sizing, soil vapor extraction, vacuum unit sizing, and other common calculations required for pilot tests and remedial action plans ??

Question #2: Does anyone know of a freeware program or spreadsheet that I can obtain to perform calculations for the proper formulation of Fenton's Reagent (% Hydrogen peroxide, % ferrous sulphate, % sulphuric acid) ? Specifically, I would NEED to calculate reaction time (variable durations of reaction), peak exothermic temperature, etc.

Thank you in advance for your help.

KROM

Question #1

Are you collecting the field data required as input to the models you are looking for or are the sites already typified?

The kind of calculations you are seeking would usually be performed by an environmental consulting firm. May be kinda tough to obtain freeware from engineers and geologists that spent 4 or 6 years learning the tools of the trade. Another option may be to contact one of the packaged treatment system vendors.

Question #2

Try an good environmental laboratory. The sales staff may have some input. In your area ENCO Labs comes to mind.

Good Luck.
