I found it interesting that Tesla temporarily changed the software to increase range and offered faster charging for folks affected by Hurricane Florence. It appears the range and charging rate are normally derated to extend battery life.
I wonder if they all had electric cars and a hurricane was approaching and everybody tried to charge up at once,, what would happen....the same as with the gas, it always runs out....You're trapped my friend, either way....The vendors are just not equipped to handle the load...Food, water, plywood, gas, batteries...always sells out...
That's a good point. It takes a lot of energy to move all those people out of harm's way. The energy available now that can be tapped on short notice is the gasoline in everyone's tank (which folks usually fill when a storm is coming) and in the storage tanks of all the gas stations.
If we were converted over to all electric, would there be enough energy available?
