We already know how. We were told. Just rake the leaves.

You're welcome. A little planning goes a long way. It seems simple when you study the problem closely, although in actual practice it seems a bit more difficult as it requires constant vigilance and a proactive approach.

It is good information. I don't live in a particularly forest fire prone area but a home fire is still one of my biggest fears.

At one point I was thinking why not just cover your entire home in a fire blanket to keep the floating cinders from igniting it. I recall finding some company that made such a product you could mount on your roof that would unfold at the flip of a switch. I think it was unfolded using tubes that fill with air to expand the material.

The idea was to open it right after you evacuate as the temperatures in the house would be too hot for a person.

These videos are the best I've seen, and should be shown in high school gymnasiums before fire season. The fire departments in vulnerable towns should expand their proactivity using videos like the ones S E and cr4 have brought forward. Each town should be very proactive about their surrounding area, and require subdivisions to meet higher standards as to their surrounding areas. Knowledge is king. Good on ya S E

Successful practice 1. do not build in a forest.

If you ignore #1

Have adequate insurance.

It is mans refusal to allow nature to exist that is the problem. Either we are intentionally destroying her, accidentally destroying her, or slowly killing her and ourselves with a self righteous glee only found in asylums.

So true.

But don't dare mention the fact that global warming, proven by polar ice melting or ocean level rises might just be contributing to the wildfires and natural vegetation migration. The "scientists" here will flame you.

Hey, let's just move to Mars!

Bill Nye made remarks this week in an interview this week with USA Today. “We can’t even take care of this planet where we live,” said Nye, “and we’re perfectly suited for it, let alone another planet.”

Since all (or most) of mankind ( "mans" ) are connected by www, "it" is the only way to tell the collective world with "glee", that "we're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore". We are all too busy swiping our i-phones to even care what's happening just 2 feet from us, much less how many flip flops a whale has devoured 1000 miles away. So It gets down to what each of us does in our own little world, as opposed to the collective political correct world "we all" live in. Planet earth will survive on its own with or without our help. It was "built" that way and it will scratch it's fleas from time to time.
