Interesting concept! To my knowledge, and some cursory research, no one has developed any tools like this. Why? Well, the whole concept of the mobile phone is that you have it with you all the time, so why would you need remote operation for it?
The closest thing that exists for remotely controlling your mobile are certain security apps like Mobile Armor which can disable the device and erase data from it (basically causing it to reset to factory settings). There are some location services as well that enable you to see where other phones are (such as a parent to monitor a child's location) but these don't extend to controlling the device.
There has been a great deal of development on the other hand to use phones to remotely control other things, like house lighting. Mr. Google can give you a bunch of references on these kind of things.

I am trying to do some research into the area and possibly get some sort of method of getting a phone to switch to silent automatically when entering a room.
I have look on Google but alas... keep getting a short straw.
I automically get my cell phone switched to silent( out of network) whem entering closed rooms , some manufacturers have it, usually one push button to switch between different preset modes , to aquire control signals network opperator should be dictated to do so
But the method i am researching would require no touch of the phone. Just some sort of signal to make the phone go to silent. Do you think i should speak to network operators etc?
