How is the Internet Used?

How is the Internet used around the world? Here in Morocco, and in many underdeveloped countries, people do not make the good use of the net. They usually use it for chat, pornography, or just to kill the time. Are they better things to use it for?

Internet Use

I use the internet for research of product information, for finding company contact information, requesting technical assistance on various types of electrical construction industry equipment and for making purchases, both business and personal and for business and personal communications.

How i use the internet

I use it for several things:

1) 10% - to communicate with email (I use 4 accounts that are all open at the same time in Mozilla) and with Skype international telephony free of charge (amongst others with my family in the Netherlands)

2) 15% - to search for new developments in energy (renewable) , to see where the world is going in this field, to stay informed on scientifical research

3) 2% - to read the french dutch german and english newspaper headlines while living in France (I am dutch)

4) 53% - Building my professional website and getting known through this (recently started and not finished) http://www.randolph-automotive.com (I am starting my own business now)

5) 5% - staying informed on automotive technology and car design

6) 2% - divertment , reading jokes or seeing funny movies

7) 10% - Patent search

8) 2% - just surfing and seeing where it gets me. ususally on scientifical subject (that's how I came across websites such as www.amasci.com which I find intriguing and this also brings me to the weak point of the internet : I often don't know what is true and what is not.

One thing is for sure : There are things I do not do (zero percent):
- gaming (waste of time, life is too interesting for loosing time on this)
- downloading music (I have got my collection of CDs and I cannot even find the time to listen)
-downloading movies (I have a few boxes full of videocassettes I have not even watched yet)

I wonder if I am the typical profile of member of CR4.

The larger the business or activity the more internet services you will find that will imporve your ability to created and track progress. Espically the new Enterprize Software that allows for the managers to access any parts of the business even down to the spped a production machine is running or the current temp or the viberation level of a motor on a machine in another country. Sensors now scheudle repairs of equipment over the internet using averages of failure rates and other mathmaticial averages.
