Engineering Project

03/25/2019 7:26 PM

Hello, I am a grade 12 student looking for an engineer (any field would be awesome) to interview for a school project. I would really appreciate anyone who can help, and I can interview in whatever way is most convenient ie. (phone call, email, or even a google doc). Thank you to anyone that responds!

This sounds like some sort of phishing scam....If you need to interview an engineer why not do it in person in your own neighborhood? What can you learn from an engineer that you can't find online? ...besides personal information....no thanks

Not a scam, I see where your coming from though, not to many engineers in my neighbourhood but I did happen to find someone online. And I agree that most information can be found online, but like I said its a school project and that isn't that the teacher wants.

Well you tell your teacher that I said this is not 1950, and asking strangers for information about their lives over the internet is no longer acceptable...If your teacher wants you to talk to engineers he should contact some local retired people that would be willing to talk about their lives and work, and let his students pick from that list...You can print this out and submit it...

Here are some ideas of where to look locally for engineers:

Local government: City, Town, County -- often a qualified engineer is in charge of Public Works department

Local chapters of professional engineering organizations: Look up IEEE (electrical and electronic engineers), ASME (mechanical), ASCE (civil), National Society of Professional Engineers -- plenty of choices. Here is a link to a Wikipedia article with a comprehensive list.

Local college or university: If there aren't any faculty teaching engineering there might be an engineer in charge of the physical plant

Google "engineer" and the name of the place where you live. Depending on the size of your city or town you'll find professional engineering firms. You could also try looking for architecture firms since they often have engineers on staff or know where to find them.
