For a 2~3H pencil hardness coating, what will be the maximum force can be applied to a contact probe with an effective contact dia of 5mm without breaking the coating?

If you really want to know, it'll cost you.

Contact some one that makes pencils and talk to their engineer.

My dog ate a pencil the other day. All I could think was, well, it'll probably make him go No. 2......

See ASTM D3363, ASTM D3359, and ISO 15184. These test specifications may help but I am not sure pencil hardness tests are going to be specific enough.

F = √(Fx2 + Fy2) / [(2~3H) /(Pi{2.52(length of pencil lead)}] /

[Š* x λ ] - ¶ + (average temp in ° celcius where pencil lead is under stress) - your age + your height in mm.

* This must be determined by the witch doctor at midnight on a full moon.

Hi!

YOu can refer to ASTM D3363 (http://www.astm.org/cgi-bin/SoftCart.exe/DATABASE.CART/HISTORICAL/D3363-00.htm?L+mystore+pmax1328), in this standard, this may help but you need to purchase this standard.
