Starting a Private Forum for Students

06/04/2019 7:17 PM

I've been looking for a way to converse about class topics with other distance students attending our university, but I think we would generally prefer our posts and discussions to remain private--so that the only responses are our own and we don't get so much traffic we can't communicate with each other. I found CR4 while looking for an alternative our university-provided forum, as I don't believe it will email the user when a comment is added to his/her question.

So, the question: can I create a forum that restricts comments/responses to those invited into the forum? Thanks!

CR4 does not support closed or private forums. We have discussed setting up something like a "help me with my homework" section, which by its nature should limit participation. The suggestions for both SolarEagle and Del are worth pursuing. Have you asked the distance learning office whether your school can support such a forum?

Until then, you could consider forming a study-group from among your classmates ?...

Thank all of you for your comments and suggestions. Proboards appears to be just what I was looking for, but we're also exploring Amazon Chime, which may include even more at no cost. Thanks all!
