Trying to recruit a ceiling or wall panel engineer

10/22/2007 5:32 PM

I'm looking for a gifted Mechanical or Structural Engineer with some experience in ceiling or wall panels and hardware design. The position is for a new division of a $2.6 Billion global company and is based in Salt Lake City with a group of 150. This is a lucrative career position, engaging with leading architects and engineers around the world. If you know of someone or can suggest some industry specific publications or groups it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Carrie

What type of panels are you designing ,insulated, metal plastic. Whats the application reefer space, hangers, what ? i've been in working with some insulated stainless steel refrigeration panels lately. Theirs alot of ways to go. Maybe you don't need to pay some high profile position when their alot of people out there like myself with the know how just looking to give it away (sorry not going to salt lake though) might throw some ideas your way if you are prevy to give out info

Wisewell, Thanks for your response. I know not everyone wants to live in SLC, but after they've been here for 5 years, no one wants to leave. The panels will mostly be luminous made out of new eco friendly composite materials (both wall and ceiling panels), so we're talking about attaching and suspending them (in the case of ceilings). They are developing an entire business group. Although, they will be using consultants, they need someone, knowledgeable to spearhead the process who has some in-depth industry experience.

In fact I like SLC. However this is not the point. I would need to know the weight of your new panels. As you probably know there is a huge range of materials which are presently available, and a quick description such as you have given is not sufficient.

I guess among the first questions are : the weight as above, whether they are load bearing , how the designers propose to fix them onto the ceilings in short a myriad of questions. I do not specialize in panels but have a considerable experience in the way they are technically bought to market , commercialized and not less importantly that they meet the local or International guidelines for : fire rating, sound, and earthquake resistance.

So if you can not find one right away , let me know and give me your "off-air " details and we can talk .

Sorry for the delay, I'm actually on vacation and don't get connected as often as I normally would. Since my client actually manufactures the composit resin panels the size, thickness, structural characteristics can be design engineered. I won't have a lot of technical information (remember, I'm their 3rd party recruiter), and have to protect their identity in a public forum. It wasn't obvious how I contact you "off the air."

Thanks,
Carrie

Carrie, I am a Structural Engineer having worked with injected foam panels (roof, floor and wall) for cold and hot weather applications, from foundation design to on-site supervision of construction. I would be interested in discussing this further at your convenience. Contact via Email stevepeng@northwestcrane.com
